A truly magnificent pendant that is regally detailed with gold hand engraving and black enamel foliage detailing.
The oval gold frame is of early to mid 19th century origin.
The gold and enamel pendant was originally a front and back gold mourning locket which held a memorial art piece of hair, gold and pearls on one side and an open glass frame on the reverse.Both these were unfortunately so badly damaged with the glass frames cracked beyond repair and the hair art frayed due to the broken glass.
I replaced the glass and hair art with two cameos - one an antique French Black Jet cameo facing left and one a Mediterranean shell cameo carving.The ladies are elegant and suit the gold memorial locket perfectly.
It is a true treasure.
