This antique, yellow gold Pinchbeck oval target brooch dates from the Grand Victorian Period.
This treasured brooch is distinctly characterised by the concentric oval shapes, radiating out from central "bullseye" which symbolises the spot where Cupid's arrow had struck - a "target" for love, or in some contexts, holding symbolism that the woman's heart was already secured.
With the engraved symbolism of the forget-me-nots flowers, the garter belts running around the target and the intertwined gold rope border, this brooch certainly represents a committed heart and relationship status.
True pinchbeck is an antique alloy that is highly collectable and valued for holding its characteristic bright gold shine.
I love this glorious target brooch and I know that it will hold space as a treasured heirloom if gifted to yourself or to a beloved.
The brooch opens and secures with an era specific c-clasp fitting.
Dimensions: 37mm wide x 32mm wide x 11mm high x 10.7grams.
