An incredible piece of history.
A magnificent and highly desirable brooch that was gifted sometime in the 1830s by a doting husband “to my wife” for “A New Years Gift”.
The high carat brooch holds a royal blue and seed pearl star centre with radiating seed pearls sitting in raised gold frames spraying out onto the well sized navette shaped memory brooch. The gold brooch is framed by Etruscan revival shaped detailing. The majesty of the golden brooch is the three flapper style fringe chains that sweeps the bottom of the brooch. The gold crescent moon and pearl pendant dangle that sways from the bottom of the gold navette shaped brooch is dramatically accented with Etruscan chain fringe dangles.
The gold crescent moon and pearl dangle can be removed to wear as a pendant alone or to tone the drama of the mourning brooch down if you so wish. It is pure magic.
The biggest joy of this incredible memory brooch is the small personalised message that reads “A New Years Gift, to my Wife”.
The glass frame at the back can be removed to store your own memories and keepsakes.
It is a magnificent heirloom.
The Victorian yellow gold brooch acid tests as higher than 14ct gold. Dimensions: 45mm wide x 82mm total hang.
