An incredible antique treasure, this Celtic cross brooch is presented in hand engraved sterling silver, detailed with a bright cobalt blue enamel, highlighting the intricate Lover’s Knot detailing of the Celtic Cross design.
The silver brooch is early to mid Victorian in age, is unmarked yet confirmed sterling silver and a mastery of silversmithing.The brooch is a hollow, punch metal form that has been repaired in it’s historic past - there is some metal damage on the cross finials and slight separation from the brooch backing.The brooch, however, presents perfectly for it’s age and I have priced it according to the current antique condition.
The brooch opens and closes with a hand formed c-clasp mechanism.
