An incredible Victorian agate geological form brooch of great beauty.
This beautiful brooch dates to the mid 1800s and is a baroque revival, romantic floral and leaf elegant repoussé cased gold scroll border. The gold repoussé border is a heavy yellow gold cased, gold fill over an alloy metal.
The star of the brooch is the incredible geological crystalline red and white banded agate gemstone. The oval semi precious agate stone is smooth curve cut. It is glorious.
The gold fill along the Baroque border is in exceptional antique condition showing only slight loss on the back of the brooch.
The reverse of the brooch is a plain belly of banded agate, fitted with the original C clasp brooch fitting and a larger o-ring for dangling landscape from your chain.
