A wonderfully fancy Aesthetic style, scallop border locket that is well sized and double sided.
This antique Victorian mourning locket is a rare and wonderfully beautiful design item that is fashioned in warm and intricately hand engraved 9ct yellow gold.
The fine hand engraving is Aesthetic in design with filigree, scroll and geometric patterning all around.
The front and back gold content indicates that the locket doors are constructed from solid 9ct gold, with the frames, hinges and swivel bail being made from a harder, more robust rolled gold, alloy metal.
The double door photo locket opens to reveal two treasured, black and white photographs. Do note that only one original window panel remains.
This is a wonderful and highly collectable piece of Victorian history. It was clearly very dear to its original owner. It only shows slight loss of rolled gold at the top of the swivel bail. Locket is unmarked, tested as 9ct gold.
