A late Victorian to early Edwardian era Japanese Oriental figural man fob chain necklace.
This rare Oriental man figural chain is a fine example of Japonisme, a late 1800s design craze that drew influence from Japanese art and design following Japan’s reopening to outside trade in 1854.
This magnificent and rare segmented and figural fob chain necklace is completed with a hallmarked sterling silver t-bar dangle (hallmarked for Birmingham 1904) and a well sized sterling silver hallmarked circa 1904 fob clasp mechanism.
The rare and highly ornate Japanese Oriental man link chain is unmarked silver plated. It is in excellent condition, showing no loss of silver plate.
The necklace is a fine treasure that has a total run of 44cm with a good 8cm chain drop.A total of 22 Oriental man links are present and I can easily adjust the length of the chain, should you so require.
