A truly rare and magnificent thing of beauty.
An era 1880s Aesthetic movement brass or Pinchbeck buttery gold tone panel or book link chain bracelet, with each of the 10 circular panels being punch set with a swallow bird in flight.
The Aesthetic art movement was from the late 19th century and saw jewellery and design focusing on flowing and beautiful lines - “art for arts sake” and to escape the ugliness and materialism of the Industrial Age. During this period design inspiration was also drawn from Japan and her naturalistic themes of birds, leaves and bamboo. This design inspiration was called Japonisme - with design elements also holding great sentiment of meaning.
This gorgeous late 1800’s panel bracelet was once part of a longer book chain necklace, with the swallow symbolism representing love, devotion and loyalty.
Now, easier to wear, the book chain link bracelet measures 18 or 19cm long and opens and closes with an antique brass tone fob clasp. Please specify which length you'd prefer for ease of wear.
The panels are 35mm wide.
It is a striking and gorgeous bracelet to wear, own or gift.
A symbolism of love and devotion and art appreciation.
