This beautiful, exceptionally done, early 20th-century watercolour depicts a generous bouquet of white and blue vein daisies which are arranged in a clear glass vase upon a wooden table.
Painted with a delicate palette of soft whites, yellows, blues, and earthy tones, the artist captured the life and freshness of the flowers with expressive brushwork and subtle transparency characteristic of the watercolour medium.
The work is signed “IF” and dated 1937 in the lower right corner, placing it firmly within the pre-war period. The composition has a romantic and timeless decorative appeal, combining traditional still-life subject matter with a light, impressionistic treatment.
The unframed paper artwork has dimensions of 30.5cm x 26.5cm.
The artwork is in overall good vintage condition consistent with age. There is a slight tear in the bottom right hand corner and middle top frame of the paper, consistent with a work of paper art dating from 1937.
