This era 1940s 1950s costume jewel is a fancy floral cluster of champagne toned baroque shaped glass pearls that are wire wrapped and spraying out from a central large form, oval form faux pearl.
The setting of the pearl pendant is a “Made in France” fancy form silver backing that is credited to the French designer Louis Rousselet.
Louis Rousselet (1892–1980) was one of the 20th century's most iconic Parisian master bead makers and costume jewellery designers, renowned for his unparalleled glasswork and imitation pearls. His workshop supplied high-end components and finished couture jewellery pieces to legendary fashion houses like Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Elsa Schiaparelli, Lanvin, and Balenciaga. The vast majority of Louis Rousselet jewellery was originally sold unsigned, but instantly recognisable by the “made in France” and pendant backing used.
It appears that this pendant was originally a brooch fitting that was repurposed to a pendant fitting. The metal is unmarked yet tests as sterling silver.
