A rare and gorgeous World War 2 Pilot’s Wing pendant. This Sweetheart treasure is a very unusual example of WW2 period Middle Eastern Niello metalwork.
These “sweetheart" treasures where jewellery given by servicemen to their loved ones - with this specific Niello enamel one probably made by local artisans for Allied Royal Air Force personnel serving in the Middle East during the Second World War.
Niello jewellery is highly collectable, featuring black metallic alloy, which is inlaid into engraved silver.
Compared to the mass-produced European enamel Sweetheart brooches, this Niello version is rare and highly sought after by collectors.
This Pilots wing was originally a brooch, which I transformed into an easy to wear pendant.
